01

Create a shared structure

Agree naming conventions for subjects, sections, difficulty and ownership before bulk creation begins.

02

Separate content from delivery

Maintain reusable questions independently from individual exams, then apply timing and marking in the exam definition.

03

Review continuously

Use performance data and author feedback to retire ambiguous or outdated content.

04

Give every question an owner

Record who created and reviewed each item, when it was checked and which outcome it measures. Ownership helps resolve ambiguity, update old material and prevent duplicates from spreading across sections.

05

Use a consistent review checklist

Check wording, correctness, difficulty, media, accessibility, marks and explanations before publication. Review complete direction groups together. A question should not become eligible for random selection until its dependencies are clear.

06

Use performance evidence carefully

Flag unexpected difficulty, weak discrimination, frequent skipping or repeated comments. Statistics identify where review is needed but do not explain the cause alone. Combine data with subject expertise before revising or retiring an item.

07

Control versions and retirement

Keep published wording and answer keys tied to the attempts that used them. When an item changes materially, create a reviewed version instead of silently rewriting history. Retire content that is outdated, exposed or no longer aligned with the assessment blueprint.
